Renewing instead of buying new

We have already shown you how to replace the stripping blades of your 12 40 200 Self-Adjusting Insulation Stripper or the cutter head of your KNIPEX bolt cutter here on the blog. In this video we will show you how to exchange the push button on your KNIPEX Cobra®, the pliers wrench or the KNIPEX TwinGrip Slip Joint Pliers.

1. Get the right spare part for your pliers from your local dealer.
2. Remove the cap (head) of the old button with a screwdriver or similar. Then loosen the screw on the back with a Torx (T8) and remove it together with the spring and the remaining push button socket.
3. Put the new socket into the respective opening of the pliers, attach the spring and fix it with the screw provided.
4. Add a bit of threadlocker into the opening of the socket.
5. Place the cap on the socket and press both halves together with e.g. a pliers wrench so that both parts are firmly connected.
6. The pliers are ready for use again!
